The Barber Institute of Fine Arts is an art gallery and concert hall situated in purpose-built premises on the campus of the University of Birmingham. It features many of the greatest names in Western European art, with outstanding collections of paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints. The Barber offers workshops, events, courses and talks that young people can use towards their Arts Award. Alex Jolly, Learning and Access Assistant, says ‘The Barber Institute is proud to be an Arts Award Supporter and we are also looking to train staff to become Arts Award advisers.'
Barber Youth (ages 14-19) gives young people the opportunity to further their understanding of art history, learn skills in drawing, painting, printing, 3D and new media, visit museums and art galleries, meet artists and learn about careers in the arts, and create artwork to display in their own exhibitions at the Barber. A perfect fit to Arts Award!
